The politicians are at it again. The two problems facing us today are healthcare reform and what to do about Afghanistan. Healthcare reform is not for us but for insurance and pharmaceutical companies. The latest number I heard is 70% of americans want the Public Option. Several democratic senators voted against the Public Option. If the Democrats can't stick together in this battle, it will never pass with benefits for us. And if this is true, forget the whole thing. I'm in the donut hole and I'm so disgusted the way the congress sold us out to the drug companies. Please don't less this type of sellout again!!!

There is a lot happening in the world of politics. Is it really possible that health reform may be happening before I die? I would love to see that happen. President Obama is going full speed ahead and I love it. All you hear from people is that he is moving too fast. 3 or 4 decades waiting for health care I would say is not moving too fast! Judge Sonia Sotomayor looks like the next Supreme Court Justice. I watched some of her hearing and believe she is very qualified. I wish her all the best in her endeavor. I'm very happy with President Obama. He lives his life with no pretensions. I am so grateful Bush is out of office though I am disappointed that investigations on torture and why the Iraq war was started on lies. Bush and Cheney, so far, have literally gotten away with murder. I believe that is a bad precedent? What do you think?

It has been awhile since I signed in. President Obama is our new president. So far, I think he is doing a geat job. Every time Obama deals with the Republicans, he's tough as nails. I just love that. He stands very tall, truthful, and feisty. I pray everyday his policies succeed while the Republicans want him to fail. Obama has more feelings than the whole congress. Thank god the americans saw what he can possibly do, and are giving him time to show this. Thank God for the American people. All I can say about George W. Bush is GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!

It's been 5 months since I've written. Obama is the democratic candidate and McCain the republican candidate. The lies are flying and I don't mean Obama. The republicans play dirty all the time. I hate to be negative, but I think Obama is going to lose. His big mistake is not asking Hillary to be his vice president. I'm assuming that he didn't ask Hillary. Many people told Obama that he won't believe how dirty the republicans are. And they do play really dirty!

No nominee for the democrats as of today. Everyday Obama whines about what Hillary says and the ads she approves. She comes back with "if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen". I don't know who is going to win. As long as it is not John McCain. Richard Mellon Scaife has endorsed Hillary. Scaife is the guy who spent all kinds of money to fund investigations of the Clintons. I wonder what he is up to. Maybe he thinks if Hillary is the nominee John McCain can beat her easier. It really doesn't look very good for her right now. But in politics you never know what can happen until it does. Personally, I would like it if Clinton and Obama join forces and the Democratic ticket is Clinton/Obama. Eight years of Hillary and then 8 years of Obama.
That would really be great!!!! I really don't think that will happen. I'm just doing a little dreaming.

This election is unbelievable! The Clintons are up to something and I'm not sure what. The Democratic party is in a pickle right now. At this point, neither of the candidates can get enough delegates to win the nomination before the convention in August. Maybe by insinuating this idea Hillary thinks it will somehow send votes her way. How, I don't know. Florida and Michigan need to determine how they are going to get their delegates counted. That Florida seems to be a big problem when it comes to voting time. Florida needs to overhaul its election process. What is their problem? Obama is off message. He spends his time reacting to Hillary Clinton's campaign instead of promoting his agenda. Obama is playing in the big league now.

Well Tuesday March 4 is a big day for Hillary Clinton. That Obama stands at the podium and mesmerizes the crowd. That's the difference between Hillary and Obama. How do you fight back? I just really don't know. If I were Hillary, I really don't know how I would deal with this.
Hillary certainly is finding out who her friends are and who aren't her friends. These politicians
turn on each other at the drop of a hat. Let's look at Rep. John Lewis who marched with Martin Luther King. His superdelegate vote was for Hillary until Obama became popular. Then he switched from Clinton to Obama and he's been a friend for years. To me that shows the man has no character. And he marched with Dr. King!!!

Things are looking very badly for Hillary. Obama is wiping the floor with her and it is sad to watch. She has lived her whole life for this opportunity. She is being abandoned by so many people. There is no doubt that she is more qualified than Obama, but the large majority of americans are looking for charisma over experience. How in the world does Hillary handle that?
I'm no strategist, but I know it will take a miracle for Hillary to overcome Obama. Hillary is coming to RI this weekend. Maybe we will go and see her.

Hillary came to RI today. There was a rally at Rhode Island College. I decided not to go. She and Obama are really getting into it. She was furious about some mailers his campaign was sending out. It looks very bad for Hillary. Ralph Nader announced his candidacy today on Meet the Press. Ralph is 74! I was so surprised at his age. I've got to check out his website.

Barack Obama won the South Carolina primary today. The economy has been taking a nosedive and the government is considering rebates for some americans. I don't know yet if seniors who are on Social Security will get a rebate. That would be very nice. Bill Clinton seems to be causing some problems while he is campaigning for his wife. It seems like there are a lot of people out there who seem to know that Bill should stop what he is doing. The media keeps trying to interject race in the campaign. Not Obama, Clinton, or Edwards. I believe Hillary Clinton would be doing better if Edwards weren't in the race. I wonder what the Democrats think about this situation.

Politics can be so brutal! Senator Clinton is getting a raw deal right now. Barack Obama is turning everything upside down. People are really drawn to him. I would love to see him in person and have a chance to feel what people are feeling from him.

I must talk now about Naomi Wolf's book "The End of America". She writes about fascism and how democracies fall prey to it. As I read the book, I can't help but identify this wonderful country with her book. She writes about ten steps dictators take to bring a country under his/her control. Some of these steps have started already in America. I know that sounds hard to believe but it is true. The steps already taken by the Bush administration are involving an external and internal threat, establish secret prisons, develop a paramilitary force (e.g. Blackwater), surveil ordinary citizens, infiltrate citizen group, and arbitrarily detain and release citizens. When in ameica would there be a debate about whether we torture or should we torture? Yet that has been going on for several years. This is not the america I was born and raised in. And I find it very, very sad!

I must get this off my chest. The Democrats have got to be the most ignorant or foolish bunch I have ever seen. They are letting Bush make fools out of them. In one breath we are told Bush needs billions for his war and then we hear $31 million has been paid out for something in Iraq that never happened.

I have not been using my blog for a couple of months. What is going on is just what I thought would happen, though not this soon. Bush and his cronies are beginning to be exposed. Mr. Bush's true colors are showing more and more. The compassionate conservative doesn't care about children or he would have made his statement as a "fiscal" conservative on another bill and not SCHIP. He is so stupid and mean-spirited. I'm afraid the Democrats are blowing it. They are in charge, but you would never know it. If they would stick together about the war and do what the people want, such as, GET OUT OF IRAQ, The people would be behind them 100%. Why don't they see this? I was talking to my sister last week about security, civil rights, and the war. I told her I'm horrified about the war and our civil rights being taken from us one at a time. She proceeded to say she doesn't care about her civil rights as long as she is safe. I told her we can be safe and still have our civil rights.
It wasn't an either or situation. She said she didn't care as long as she was safe. I could hardly believe what I was hearing. My sister is the type of person the Republicans can put the fear of god in. I must realize there are many of my sisters out there.

Well, Karl Rove is the next to go. He was a protege of Lee Atwater who died from cancer fairly young and asked for forgiveness on his dying bed from all the people he hurt playing dirty tricks in political campaigns. Lee Atwater's legacy is how Karl Rove has conducted himself. Rove, Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld. What a disgusting crew! Thank God presidents can only stay in office for 2 terms. Imagine what this country would be like if Bush could stay another term? The thought is positively revolting. On 8/25, there will be a march at Kennebunkport against the war. The people who coordinated this event have invited antiwar people, environmental activists, Progressives and other organisations that are against the war in Iraq.

Not long after we went to Afghanistan and defeated the Taliban, the Afghan army was started and from what I know it seems to be a success. So now I ask why is this not happening in Iraq? The sectarian violence is causing this problem, mainly, not Al Qaeda as Bush is so fond of saying. The man needs to choke on his words. So many lies come out of his mouth it's unreal. My latest read is "Hubris" by Michael Isikoff and David Corn. I've read about one quarter of it so far and it's very informative. Donald Rumsfeld was a terrible Secretary of Defense. I don't know who made the worst decisions, him, Bush, or Cheney.
The Republicans have the Democrats on the run by constantly saying the Democrats are doing nothing when it's the Republicans who are using the filibuster to stop the votes on bills. The Democrats must get this information out there so the people know what is really going on.

Right now the CNN/YouTube debate is on the TV. Many good questions are being asked. The democrats are being pelted with question about why they haven't ended the war in Iraq. The democrats could easily end the war by refusing to fund it. Otherwise they aren't easily able to pass legislation to end the war while the republicans are playing obstructionists and not allowing an up or down vote on the bill. I don't think a lot of american people understand this. The democrats need to get this information out there to the public. Bush has told the Justice Dept. not to allow the subpoenas issued by the committees under the guise of "executive priviledge". The criminal Attorney General Gonsalves will do whatever Bush says, no matter what. Bush and cronies have made a mockery or our laws and are getting away with it. This is what I don't understand. How they are able to get away with this behavior. Senator Feingold is going to introduce a censure of the president and vice president again. He introduced one about a year ago and it went nowhere. I would much rather see impeachment proceedings started. I know I'm dreaming, but you never know.

Well Libby's sentence was commuted by Bush. What a surprise! Before Bush leaves office, he'll be pardoned. He did a good job as their fallguy. The Republicans are stopping an up or down vote on the Levin-Reed bill that will bring the troops home by April 2008. This bill sounds good to me. The Republicans are not interested in bringing the troops home.

Everyone knows that Bush and Cheney are breaking the law every chance they get. And no one is doing anything about it. By that I mean congress is doing nothing to bring these men to justice.
I just don't understand it! Now Bush is going to veto a bill that continues to insure children who otherwise would not be insured. Why would he do something as uncompassionate as that. I want to see Bush be held accountable and I pray for it every day.

Scooter Libby 's sentence was commuted today. I think they were afraid if Libby went to jail he would really start talking. Bush and Cheney couldn't let that happen. It is very sad to start the day hearing about more young people dying in Iraq. Bush has been a disgrace and a liar since he took office. Iraq is using us like we are morons. This country is in need of some very big changes. The Bush administration and the Republican Party have caused great harm to this country. I haven't been writing lately because I really haven't had anything to say. I'm reading Peter Bergen's book "Holy War, Inc." So far it's pretty good. Peter Bergen is quite knowledgeable about Osama Bin Laden. Bin Laden is another one of those rich and righteous people who believes everything he does is right and good. How can killing children and civilians possibly be the right thing to do. It just doesn't make sense. I don't know anything about the Qoran, but I find it hard to believe that it tells its believers to kill children. And if it does, what kind of a holy book is that? Not one that I would ever follow.

Every day is one more day towards the end of Bush's term. I just hope we can keep him from doing anything that would hurt this country anymore than he already has. The dying in Iraq just hasn't let up. So many civilians killed every day. Men, women, and children are shot or blown up. No one is spared! How will Bush be made accountable for this war? I don't see it happening. The Democrats certainly won't hold him accountable and I don't understand why not. I'm beginning to think that the president has too much power and needs to be downsized. Bush, of course, thought the presidency needed more power and he's been on a powergrab ever since he took office.

I found a new gay sight called soulforce. It's a very informative site. Right now they have a couple of "equality" buses touring college campuses around the country. Some of the campuses will not let them come on campus and send the police to make sure that these homosexuals don't step one foot on their property. Unbelievable!!!
It truly is hard to believe that people behave this way still. Something must be the matter with me. I just don't want to accept the way some people are. That's why I keep getting hurt!

The presidential race has started already. I would love to see a Clinton/Obama ticket. I doubt if that would happen, but it sounds like a winner to me. Seymour Hersh just wrote an article for the New Yorker magazine. I don't know where he gets his information, but he always has bombshells to drop. Is the Bush administration providing money to Al Qaeda thru the Sunnis in Lebanon? That is what he had to say this time. His article is titled "Redirection". I'm also reading Fiasco by Thomas Ricks. Great book!!!

The Democrats are trying to do what they think the people want as of the Nov. election. It may not be exactly what people want, but you can't please everyone at the same time. Bush is being his usual obnoxious self thinking he's calling all the shots. Well he's not!! Iraq is such a mess. I feel so sorry for those people. They don't deserve this because of one man, Saddam Hussein. I hate that all this death is done in my name.

I've been on hiatus due to a surgery I needed to have. The Democrats in the house are moving right along with its agenda. The only thing I have a problem with is when they plan on bringing the troops home. They have no choice and they know it.

This post was started on 2/14/07 and it is now 2/24/07. It has been a tough time since my surgery but things are much better. I've come to the conclusion that I have to quit smoking. I've been having some very bad breathing problems. The doctor even thought I might have a pulmonary embolism and tried to keep me in the hospital. I wouldn't stay and I lucked out and nothing happened. The diagnosis was no blot clot. Thank you God!

There's a lot of politics happening. Bush and Cheney are up to their same old stuff-lies, lies, and more lies. They are trying to stir things up with Iran. Iraq is very bad with no end in sight. The impeachment process is gaining momentum, finally. These two guys have got to go. They are dangerous! We're not cowards and we're not quitters. We want to do what is right and that is giving the Iraqis back their country. No more deaths! No more children killed, maimed, or made orphans. Before the war started, the military said the worst scenario would be door to door fighting in Baghdad. That is just what we are doing. We have made one big mess in Iraq. I say we because it was done in my name as well. The shame I feel is overwhelming. The just thing to do is to impeach Bush and Cheney and give the Iraqi's back their country, NOW!

Tomorrow night the president will unveil his long-awaited plan to get out of Iraq victoriously, what ever that means. It's been awhile since I've written because I haven't been able to access my site. As you can see I've finally figured it out. Lots of things have happened. Pelosi is Speaker of the House. The Democrats are going in full force. It is such a delight to see! Bush still hasn't announced his new strategy for Iraq. Now this is the guy who has claimed to have had an exit plan all along. Imagine that! The man is such a liar. The impeachment movement is gaining momentum finally. I have a sweatshirt that says "Bush lied. Thousands died. ImpeachBush.org." I wear it all the time. Maybe it will get some people thinking. Bush is still breaking the law every chance he gets. Nancy Pelosi says impeachment is off the table. She needs to be reminded of her responsibility to hold the president and his cronies accountable. It is not a matter of choice. It is a matter of law. I know I have no doubt that the president has committed high crimes and misdemeanors. You don't have to be a lawyer to know that.

It has been too long since I wrote here. I was so excited about the election results, I had nothing to complain about, well sort of. The Democrats don't want to hear anything about impeachment. They act like they have a choice instead that it is their duty to impeach Bush. He(Bush) has broken the law several times and arrogantly says he will continue to do so as with the NSA warrantless wiretapping program. How can Clinton be impeached under the rule of law and not Bush? Bush thinks he's the rule of law. Bush must be held accountable!!! I have started reading a report titled "The Human Cost of the War in Iraq", a mortality study, 2002-2006. The study reports ~650,000 Iraqis killed since the war started. What a heart breaker! I can't think of one reason for all those people to have died. So many children were robbed of their futures. Such human waste. God forgive George W. Bush!!! I know I can't!

It is with great joy that I write. The Democrats have taken the House and the Senate. This is just spectacular. Let's see what they do now with the power. Twenty-one years ago today my father died. I'm full of anxiety about this coming election. I want the Democrats and Independents to win so badly. I will be such a sore loser if the Republicans win. I must try to stay positive. I am so excited!!!! The Democrats won back the House and the Senate. Unbelievable! An extra good thing is Rumsfeld resigned, finally. It looks like Nancy Pelosi will be the first woman Speaker of the House. Just too good! The first things on her agenda in the first one hundred hours are to raise the minimum wage, rescind the oil subsidies, and get rid of the donut in the prescription bill. This is music to my ears. The Democrats must do something about all the children who don't have health care. It's a disgrace. Thank you dear god!!!

Where is the America I grew up in? Where has it gone? I have always been so proud to be an American but that is not how I am feeling today. The Bush administration and the 109th Congress have done so much damage to our country it is hard to recognize it anymore. Can it be repaired? I have my doubts! I dislike thinking that negative but I would be in denial otherwise. The very worst thing that could happen is the Democrats come into power and pickup where the Republicans left off. I pray that doesn't happen. They've been known to abuse their power also. It just took them a lot longer! This election is very ugly and getting worse. Things are so out of control in Iraq it is very difficult to watch the news every night. Plus, the Taliban are starting to act up in Afghanistan. What a mess Bush and his cronies have made. If we were to withdraw now, Iraq would explode and I mean explode! So many have died already. Thousands of lives thrown away. Dear God help the people in charge stop this madness. What is scary is that they don't know how!!!

The Republicans have a lot to contend with plus the Mark Foley scandal. I wonder what the evangelicals think about that scandal? I find it very strange that the evangelicals are very quiet about the Torture law, the thievery, and the bankrupt Republicans in congress. Maybe it's okay for them. Maybe those values and morals don't apply to them. Maybe it is better they shut their mouths! What would they say? The war in Iraq is a total disaster. Every day people are dying and being blownup. The americans don't know who the enemy is. There is some very ugly fighting between the sects. The last numbers I heard about Iraqi dead is 30,000 to 100,000. All those men, women, and children dead. It's been awhile since I posted. I've been very busy around the house. Speaking of house, the Congress has gone home. The do-nothing bums have done so much damage to our country, It's hard to believe. Yesterday they voted on torture. Imagine debating torture on the floor of the senate. What a disgrace!! If the Democrats take the House or the Senate, that will breakup the one party rule which has been devastating for our country. The Republicans showed their true colors and how little they think about the middle class or the poor. A change in direction is badly needed for this country. World Can't Wait.org is planning events all over the country on Oct. 5. The Bush machine must go!!! I actually heard a conservative on the radio today who denounced the Bush regime. He said they weren't conservatives and that they have been bad for the country. I wish I could remember his name. The newest scandal is a congressman Mark Foley who is into sex talk via the computer with 16 year old boys. It hit the airways friday and the guy had admitted himself into rehab for alcoholism by friday night. His career is OVER! May god watch over him.

The anniversary of 9/11 will be here tomorrow. Of course the Republicans are all out shouting "terror, terror, terror". It is really quite sickening. Bush has been out everyday comparing Bin Laden to nazis, communists, and of course, terrorists. Bush admitted that we had secret prisons around the world. Something he's been denying all along. The man is a liar. He lies all the time. Osama Bin Laden has made a fool of Bush and his cronies. The Senate Intelligence Committee has released part of the Phase 2 report that discusses the pre-war intelligence and how it was used by Bush. I really want to read that report. 9/11 is now over and it was used by the Republicans for political gain, as usual. Right now Bush is trying to pull a fast one. I haven't had any time for my blog lately. I've been doing a lot of work around the house. Winter will be hear before you know it. Bah Humbug! Well forget about winter for now. Bin Laden and his sidekick Zawahiri are laughing in our faces. They've been sending many tapes lately. This last one is Bin Laden and his cohorts in the midst of planning the 9/11 attacks. How's that for a slap in the face. I'm reading a book about Bin Laden that says he was quite the carouser as a young man. He drank a great deal and used many a prostitute. Similar to George W.'s youth, wouldn't you say?

I am almost done reading Hostile Takeover by David Sirota. I highly recommend this book, but be prepared to get upset by what you read. It really can, at times, be very depressing. It is hard to believe this stuff is going on in this wonderful country we live in. But it is! It is very sad what some people in power are doing to this country. The media goes right along with them. Rep. John Conyers just released a report on President Bush's outlaw behaviour. He has broken many laws since he took office. Those Republican bandits that pushed relentlessly to impeach President Clinton are awfully quiet. I guess they forgot about the Rule of Law. We heard those 3 words from every Republican that opened their mouth. Their behaviour was a disgrace!

When I started this post I was reading "Hostile Takeover". I have finished it and have started reading a book about Osama bin Laden. Hostle Takeover was a very informative book and had very good ideas for solutions to the problems facing us today. Both parties, but especially the Republicans, have made a mess of this country. So many things need fixing. I don't know if the Democrats will get some power from this election. But if they do, they had better start doing right by the american people. The atmosphere is to kick out whoever is in office, be they Democrat or Republican. The american people are hard to read. When you think they have had enough, they come back for more. The Republicans are using the terrorists are coming, so vote Republican. That has worked in the last 2 elections.
Yet, the Republicans are doing a lousy job on national security. The american people have just not seen that yet. I don't know why not, but they haven't. How do we spread the word?

After hearing Ken Mehlman on Meet the Press this morning, I had to get on line right away. The Republicans have a new saying "adapt to win". I assume this is replacing "stay the course". Corporate America has bought our country with much help from our paid off politicians. What will Corporate America do when we can't buy the goods they are making somewhere in this world? From the NLRB to Homeland Security to the White House, something undercover is happening and it doesn't favor the little guy. They spend a lot of time planning on how they will deceive us. Today is July 2, 2006. The Supreme Court has put a wrinkle in the way Bush and his cronies do business. It's about time they were held accountable. The republicans pulled a political coup over the democrats today, I think. How congress can play politics with people's lives, I just don't understand. Some of the slimiest people in the world are in the congress. I am ashamed of the people who represent us. What does that say for us as a country? NOT MUCH! Zarqawi was killed this week by 2x500 pound bombs. Of course there were others killed as well. The word is the war so far has cost 350 billion dollars and 2500 american lives, and possibly over 100,00 iraqis dead. All for what? So the war profiteers can fill their coffers with blood money? I know in some ways I am naive, but not about my principles. I know right from wrong and I am not afraid to state it. The republicans say the democrats want to "cut an run" which is not true. The republicans continue to "lie and cheat" and have no guilty conscience about it. I have started reading David Sirota's book "Hostile Takeover". A third party sounds very good right now. The republicans have never been the party of the little guy. The democrats used to be the party for the little guy, but somewhere along the way it lost its way. I just read Senator Jack Reed's statement, read on the senate floor, on the repeal of the Estate Tax. He is the caring and thoughtful person I thought he was. It is with deep sadness that the democrats will lose this coming election again because they have no plan on how to fight the fear factor installed on a daily basis in the minds of the american people by the Bush administration. Will the evangelical conservatives come out to vote again just to beat down the gays? The gays are no threat to them, but they just don't see that. Do they hate gay people? It certainly looks like it. Gay people mean them no harm. They just want to live their lives and have equal rights like everyone of them. I wish someone would tell me what should happen to the gays and where they should go. Put htem all on a desert island? Put them in their own state? Why can't the evangelicals see the foolishness in these answers? They really need to talk to the gays in their own families. What would they do with a gay family member?

I started reading Glen Greenwald's blog and his book today. His book is titled "How Would A Patriot Act?". It is good to read his views on the Bush administration. He thinks they are just as dangerous as I do. I don't know what it is about George W. Bush that makes people have that blind faith trust in him. He is definitely lacking in charisma. I don't think he is bright. He is a perpetual liar. And he has a messianic personality that just doesn't fit his morals. If anyone can explain this loyalty by the people around him, I would love to hear it. I do know he is dangerous because he thinks he is above the law. There is so much going on in the political scene. I keep hearing "constitutional crisis" about this and that. Lawbreakers are in the news every day. White collar crime is rampant in Washington. Well the congress is out of washington and on vacation again. This time for 2 weeks. The big focus before they left was illegal immigration. The bill died in the senate. The other big news was that President Bush gave instructions to leak classified information. The real Bush is finally out to the american people. The man is an incompetent liar. On friday, march 31, 2006, the senate judiciary committee had a hearing on censuring President Bush for spying on americans without warrants. Out of the 8 democrats on the committee, only 2 attended. They were Feingold and Leahy. The other 6 who did not attend were Durbin, Schumer, Feinstein, Kohl, Biden, and Kennedy. After all the president has done and all the complaining by the democrats, for them not to show was a disgrace! Where the democrats stand regarding Bush's illegalities is extremely hard to understand. When Clinton was impeached, if I remember correctly, some democrats voted for it. What Clinton did was nothing compared to how Bush has broken the law. Why aren't the democrats standing with Senator Feingold or Rep. Conyers? The spin surrounding this matter is ridiculous. It is so obvious that Bush broke the FISA law. What I would like to know is who else is he spying on? Bush and his gang would not be able to stop from spying on their adversaries. Just like Nixon spied on the democrats. Senator Cornyn was a nasty ass. His behaviour towards John Dean was disgusting. He should read Dean's book. He might learn something. Without a doubt, we are involved in a constitutional crisis. We have a president who has broken the law and continues to do so. When representatives and senators are asked about the president spying on americans without a warrant, they hem and haw and don't agree that he is breaking the law or they don't know enough about it to make a decision. Then there are the ones who want to wait for the results of an investigation, while the chair of the senatorial intelligence committee is saying there will be no investigation! Finally one ethical senator steps forward and wants the president censured for his actions and he's called unpatriotic, helping the terrorists, and anything else the cowards can think of to denigrate him. Something is very wrong here! Bush has divided this country so much, nobody knows what patriotism is anymore.I say patriotism is Senator Russ Feingold, Rep. John Murtha, and the whistleblower who divulged the criminal NSA spying by the president. We have a president whose policies stem from lies and more lies. The democrats must demonstrate to the american people that they are their champions and how their policies differ from the republicans. The american people want and need an alternative to the republicans. The democrats must show them they are that alternative and not a party of wimps. That is done by declaring what their policies are and standing FIRMLY behind them.

I think I should take a brake from the sunday political talk shows. I only wind up yelling at the tv. I would like to recommend an article in The Nation magazine titled "The Impeachment of George W. Bush" by Elizabeth Holtzman a former member of the House Judiciary Committee during the Nixon impeachment proceedings. In the article she said something very interesting. She said the president is Commander-In-Chief of the military, not Commander-In-Chief of the country. I had never thought about that distinction. There is no doubt in my mind that President George W. Bush has broken the law I don't care how much they spin it. Also, a poll asking the american people if they would give up some civil rights if it made them safer. More than half the people said yes. How easily they give up their rights while soldiers are dying fighting for those very civil rights. It is ironic and a travesty at the same time. The government says they are only listening to people talking to Al Qaeda. If they know this to be true, why aren't there more arrests? There aren't more arrests because this is a LIE. Let's face it, they are listening to people they shouldn't be listening to, like the democrats. There would be no warrant if that were the reason, therefore skip the warrants. It's not complicated. I've been watching Cindy Sheehan on the news and have decided she is a born leader! President Bush has missed a great opportunity by not speaking with her. It is the same old story with Bush--he thinks he doesn't owe an explanation to anyone for his conduct. Mix that with some old fashioned fear, and you have a natural born coward. Because of his fear, he continues to send young people to war. His reasoning is that if we leave now those who have died will have died for nothing. The soldiers who are in Iraq are fighting there in good faith for a government that has done nothing but lie about this war. We, who see Bush for the liar he is, are as patriotic as any other american and support the troops as well as any other american. At present, I am reading a report by the Human Rights Watch, vol. 17, and I am horrified at how many human rights are being violated by my government. If I told you people were arrested, and then disappeared, what country do you think I would be talking about? What if I told you people were kept incommunicado, not allowed any kind of advocate and tortured as well? What country would you think I was talking about? Meet the new United States of America! I have always loved my country and have been very proud to be an american, but what my government is doing, in the guise of national security, makes me very sad and ashamed to be an american. I believe the government can accomplish what it needs to do without throwing away the civil liberties and freedoms we have been so proud of and enjoyed. The government espouses freedom, liberty, and justice for all, but seems to have forgotten what they mean.

Democratic party, where are you when we desperately need your voice? I've heard many complaints about you--like what do you stand for--like what is your platform? Why are people so confused about where you stand? Did the party make a deal about Christopher Cox and the SEC? Cox is a terrible choice to head the SEC. But I'm sure you know that! Don't forget to stay focused on Rove. Getting rid of him is a heavenly thought.

The supreme court nominee has been chosen and seems like it is just a matter of a vote. Already both sides are saying-no filibuster! Sometimes the democrats confuse the hell out of me. I can see why some people are confused about where they stand. I know I do. Everything seems like such a game, even about life and death situations. I do believe if they try to overturn Roe v. Wade there will be a revolution in this country. The direction this country is going in is extremely worrisome. The role the press has taken is very disappointing. The press is either lazy or fearful. So many lies are being told and the press just repeats them even when the research tells them otherwise.
It does appear that the government's patriotism is lacking and party affiliation means more than country. Rove should have be out of a job whether he committed a crime or not. Why doesn't our president see that? Is his friendship with Rove more important than our national security?

It is with great frustation I write today. When I turn the tv or radio on, It is difficult to listen to the barage of lies from the republicans and the democrats. I really have less patience with the republican's lies because they are in power and have lied since day one. These liars do whatever they can to confuse the american people who are trying to live their lives everyday and that keeps them plenty busy. The liars have lots of time to connive, distort, and outright lie about what the government is doing and why it is doing what it is doing. Even something as serious as war, a life and death matter, they still don't really know why they are fighting and dying. In all fairness and decency, shouldn't they know why they are really fighting and dying? I THINK SO!

The republicans are out in full force doing damage control for Karl Rove. They are up against Joe Wilson who is respected and not afraid of the white house. The slash and burn dirty politics of Bush, Rove, and sidekicks has finally started to catch up with them, thank God. The policies Bush has been putting in place have been so harmful to this great country and all of us in it. The rich have become richer and the poor have become poorer. I don't understand why the less fortunate continue to believe that Bush cares about them and wants to improve their lives. I know he is a very good salesman, but continually, he says one thing and does another. Look at the No Child Left Behind bill. The president pushes it, signs it, and then doen't fully fund it. How about the prescription bill that was passed. It was a pharmaceutical giveaway. The law states that the government must pay the price the pharmaceutical company sets. To me, this is insane. This bill doesn't help us! Now the drug companies have changed the amount of drugs they will export to Canada so that we can no longer buy it from there. Who is there to help us, the poor, lonely citizen? NO ONE!!!

When I hear Karl Rove's name it makes my blood boil. He is such a liar!!! And no one calls him on it. Where the hell is the press? The man doesn't know the truth if it slapped him in the face. And yet it seems he has so many admirers. Something is very wrong if this is true. If he is one of the sources in the Valerie Plame case, then he should be arrested because he committed a crime. Rove must have been one of Lee Atwater's proteges. Lee Atwater wound up asking for forgiveness on his deathbed. Rove won't give any interviews. I wonder why. The man is dispicable and will pay one day for his behaviour!

If the progressives and democrats are going to turn things around, they are going to have to get some backbone. Freedom has its price. It is not for free! It is a wonderful gift our forefathers gave us. Make no mistake, some are trying to take it from us. People with power and the evangelical right are hard at work conniving to steal this precious gift, a little at a time. But it is happening.
